We Have Big and Bittersweet News!
Greetings from Heckin' Chonks Headquarters! Autumn may be here, but you really wouldn’t know - it’s long afternoons by the aircon for the Chonks at the moment after chasing the ball in the early morning before it gets too hot.
We have been umming and ahhing for the last little while, but we have arrived at a difficult decision. Now that Bonny’s litter has all gone to their forever homes and we were wondering when the next litter might be, we have actually decided not to continue.
As avid dog lovers, the welfare of all doggos comes first. Covid times really changed the landscape of dog breeding, as many dogs were pumped out at an alarming rate to accommodate for a tremendous demand at the time.
The sad news is that this has led to a lot of less ethical breeding first of all, but has also hugely spiked the numbers of dogs that are surrendered or abandoned. The good news is that there are many loving families that give these struggling pups a new home.
We are big fans of this and even have three rescues of our own, who are besties with the Chonks. Because there are frankly too many dogs in Australia now, it simply does not make sense to breed right now.
So this is farewell for now from Heckin' Chonks H.Q. We may be back in the years to come, but for now we thank you so much for your support on our grand adventure.
❤ H.C.
